DAKOTA COUNTY, MN — A former Dakota County clerk was sentenced Tuesday in federal court in Minneapolis to 2 1/4 years in prison for stealing over $650,000 from Vermillion Township, The Star Tribune reported. Maryann H. Stoffel, 71 of Hastings, must also pay back the money, which prosecution said she stole to feed her gambling addiction, the publication reported.
