BUFFALO GROVE, IL — The following information comes from the Buffalo Grove Police Department (except when noted) and court records as a record of incidents reported to police and those arrested on criminal charges, which represent accusations by the state that are often dropped or reduced. Updated information may be available from the Lake County Clerk of the Circuit Court. Everyone arrested is presumed to be innocent unless found guilty in court beyond a reasonable doubt. ARRESTS SUSPENDED/REVOKED DRIVER'S LICENSE Said Assante, 24, of the 3000 block of Kedzie Avenue, Chicago, is accused of driving with a suspended/revoked license, improper lighting, and was arrested at 2:39 a.m. July 16 at Deerfield Parkway and Windbrooke Drive. He was assigned a court date of Aug. 3. Michael T. Givens, 33, of the 600 block of Westgate Terrace, Streamwood, is accused of having a suspended/revoked driver's license, and was arrested at 1:38 a.m. July 17 at Deerfield Parkway and Weiland Road. He was assigned a court date of Aug. 13.Jeffrey A. Kurfess, 36, of the 800 block of Mason Lane, Des Plaines, is accused of driving with a suspended/revoked driver's license, driving with only one headlamp, and was arrested at 9:52 a.m. July 17 at Dundee Road and Grove Drive. He was assigned a court date of Aug. 16. INCIDENTS THEFT An employee of Walgreens, 15 N Buffalo Grove Road, reported at 12:04 a.m. July 5 that while stocking shelves, she saw a man take an unknown amount of money from a register. She confronted the man and he ran away from the store. COMPUTER FRAUD A Butternut Drive resident called police at 9:45 p.m. July 5 to report that he was contacted by someone who previously inquired about renting property he owned in Buffalo Grove. He is concerned someone is advertising renting his property as their own in an attempt to defraud potential renters out of money. The woman advised she was contacted by another person saying they were the property owner and wanted to know if she was still interested. He proceeded to ask her a series of questions in the form of a rental application. Fortunately, she did not fall for the scam. HARASSMENT BY TELEPHONE A Deerfield Parkway resident reported at 5 p.m. July 5 that he is receiving unwanted phone calls and text message pictures. He has informed the caller that she has the wrong number, but she continues to contact him. SUSPICIOUS INCIDENT A real estate agent called police at 1:28 p.m. July 17 to report they discovered an unknown woman in a recently sold condo unit in the 900 block of Thornton Lane. Neither the buyer nor the seller knew who the woman was. There also clothing and other personal items located in the unit that did not belong to either party. Stay Patched In!
