Description

Men, Coping, and Prolonged Grief Are you male and between the ages of 25 – 65? Did you lose a loved one due to a fatal accident, homicide, or suicide? A loved one is a spouse, child, parent, sibling, grandparent, or other relative. Other relative is defined as non-immediate family member or friend such as a niece, nephew, uncle, aunt, cousin, godchild, friend, girlfriend, or boyfriend. Have you been grieving for 6 months or more? Would you like to discuss your experience and beloved? If you answered yes to all the questions, please join this study concerning men, coping, and prolonged grief. As a participant, you will be required to sign a consent form, participate in an audio recorded phone interview and a grief assessment. The interview will take 60 to 90 minutes & the assessment will take 30 minutes for one day only. **You will receive a $10 Starbucks e-gift card at the conclusion of interview and assessment.** The purpose of the study is to discover what impacts the grief process of men, coping strategies used, and/or the severity of the grieve process. If you know of any men who may fit the study criteria, please pass the study’s information onto them, and inform them to contact me directly if they are interested in participating in the study. Please DO NOT send their names or contact information directly to me. If you have additional questions or you are interested in participating in this important study, please contact principal researcher Alkenia Blackmon at leaving your name and the best phone number where you can be reached. Thank you for agreeing to participate in this very important study. ***This study has been approved by the Internal Review Board (IRB) of the Chicago School of Professional Psychology.***
