Field Laborer Location: Varies based on project location (Northeast U.S.) Shift: First shift; 40 hours typically but may vary based on need Employment type: Direct hire J&J Restoration is a full-service, family owned and operated, architectural conservation firm specializing in the preservation and restoration of historic buildings and monuments. Our European origins empower us with a centuries-old perspective on architecture, and our goal is always the same – treat every project as a new and unique masterpiece. We are seeking a traveling construction artisan/laborer who will work on various assignments throughout the Northeast including, but not limited, to the following areas: painting, general labor, masonry, demolition, machine operation, and carpentry. Essential Job Duties: - General labor - Willingness to work in many areas: painting, masonry, demolition, machine operation, and carpentry - Work outdoors - Use basic hand tools: tape measure, hammer, pliers, rakes, etc. - Use power tools: drills, saws, handheld grinders - Perform heavy lifting Preferred skills: - Scaffolding experience a plus - Concrete experience - Light equipment operation - Artistic skills - Construction knowledge and experience Job Expectations: - Willingness to learn; will train - Work independently and with project team - Availability to work overtime as needed - OSHA/safety training preferred - Adhere to safety requirements and equipment guidelines - Adhere to all company policies and procedures - Transportation to job location or carpool with supervisor Physical Requirements - Ability to lift 100 lbs - Ability to carry 50 lbs - Ability to push and pull 150 lbs of material - Ability to stand, bend, squat, and climb Education: Some high school Benefits: - Hourly pay will be based on prior construction experience - $20 per diem, per day while traveling - Year End bonus - Referral Bonus that pays out after new hire is completed This job description is intended to provide an overview of the job and the general nature and level of work to be performed.
