Description

Join Writer and Director, Alan Manzo, for a special live screening of “SOMOS” and an intimate conversation about his latest project. SOMOS shares the story of Estibel, a 10 year-old migrant child inside one of the largest child detention centers in the United States, who is awakened to the realities many young children are facing today, under the supervision of ICE. This film is about elevating the voices of children, caged against their will, and shedding light onto the injustices and inhumane conditions faced by many in detention. SOMOS is the first script Alan Manzo wrote after becoming a FATHER to his 1st born. As he saw the images and videos of children inside cages, all Alan thought about was his son, Adan. If the images of children trapped in cages hasn’t hit home, they will after this film. Migrants, like Alan and his family, are interwoven and have woven the tapestry of this country. Many strive to come to the U.S. to find a better life for their families and in recent decades, survival. Join us to see Estibel’s story and the stories of many more children who are currently trapped in detention centers in the U.S. NOTE: *All guests are required to wear masks (regardless of vaccination status). Masks may be removed, inside auditorium, while actively consuming concession items. *Theater is open seating, so please arrive early to choose your desired seats.
