GrooveSession has a song called “Last Gig” which is about embracing every moment to its fullest and taking nothing for granted. If you like bands that hold nothing back and leave everything on stage, this is the band for you. Fueled by the thunderous rhythmic duo of brothers Manny and Ronnie Sanchez, GrooveSession is as fun to watch as they are to hear. This pair approach the drums and bass unlike anyone else, playing with savage intensity and breathtaking finesse. Just before the pandemic, GrooveSession reinvented itself with an extraordinarily exciting new lineup. Remember Brothers Gow? The jamband from San Diego played here many times and was a fan favorite. Their guitarist and lead singer Kyle Merrill and keyboardist Alex Mello have now joined forces with the Sanchez Bros to form a quartet which is on the brink of making major waves on the national jam scene. Before that happens, of course they need to return to their home away from home. What we’re dealing with are four instrumental virtuosos, two sublime singers in Manny and Kyle, a wealth of truly inspiring original material merged from the two bands and the ability to whip a dance floor into a frenzy at the drop of a hat. You still get that funky, rocking, swampy soul. Throw in an electro onslaught of keyboard wizardry, a little bit of So. Cal reggae and copious amounts of freewheeling improv (Kyle brings plenty of influence from Umphrey’s, Phish and Dead), and the element of surprise is more rambunctious than ever. GrooveSession has been one of the most significant bands in the modern history of the Crazy Horse, testing the structural integrity of the building on multiple occasions.
