A Utility Construction Laborer is trained on the job to perform the following duties: -Load/unload equipment -Dig holes with shovels and picks, to locate existing utilities -Prepare cable routes and feed cable and conduit -Learn to safely operate a variety of equipment (backhoes, excavators, hydrovac trailers, core drills, concrete saws, etc. -Safely secure the job site -Complete restoration of the job site upon complete of the project (e.g.: adding topsoil, seeding, pouring new concrete) So what makes this work physically challenging? -Moving around on your feet for 8-10 hours daily -Digging with a shovel to spot existing utilities and create trenches for placing cable -Shoveling dirt and gravel both in and out of excavated areas -Spooling and unspooling cable--sometimes several hundred feet worth Utility Construction Laborer Requirements: -Must be willing to travel (primarily in Eastern WI) Monday through Friday (home weekends) -An insurance-acceptable driver's license required -A restriction-free Class A CDL is preferred and worth an additional $2.00/hour. Employees that obtain their CDL after the time of hire are compensated accordingly.
