Description
LIDO BEACH, NY — Another day, another shark sighting in Nassau County.
A shark was spotted in Lido Beach Wednesday afternoon, causing Town of Hempstead officials to close its beaches for approximately 2 1/2 hours. During that time, three more sharks were approaching Long Beach, a spokesperson for the Town said.
The Town of Hempstead shark patrol, which began last year by Supervisor Don Clavin, was canvassing the water with jet skis and boats to determine the presence of sharks and when beachgoers could return.
This follows a shark sighting and the possible attack of a lifeguard over a two-day span this week at Jones Beach.
