EAST MEADOW, NY — A woman was seriously injured after she was hit by a car while crossing a road in East Meadow Tuesday night. According to police, the woman was crossing Hempstead Turnpike near Newbridge Road at 10:35 p.m. when she was hit by a 2017 Honda being driven by a 57-year-old woman. The pedestrian suffered severe head trauma and was taken to a nearby hospital for treatment. Police say the driver remained at the scene, and the car was given a brake and safety check. The investigation is ongoing, police say.
