NEW HAVEN, CT —Two New Haven men were arrested on gun charges after police learned they had "multiple firearms," while being legally barred from possessing guns, New Haven police said. On Monday night, after an investigation by the New Haven police Shooting Task Force, Criminal Intelligence Unit, Narcotics Enforcement Unit, and New Haven probation, and police patrol, officers went to 179 Blatchley Ave., where they saw Charles Henderson, 23, and Davante Jones, 20, "standing outside," according to police spokesperson officer Scott Shumway. Both men were arrested "without incident," Shumway said, adding that police found a rifle and two semi-automatic handguns and then, with a search warrant secured, searched the house and found four additional firearms inside, all semi-automatic handguns. Henderson was charged with criminal possession of a firearm, carrying a pistol without a permit, possession of a large capacity magazine, stealing a firearm and risk of injury to a minor. Jones was charged with criminal possession of a firearm, carrying a pistol without a permit, possession of a large capacity magazine, and risk of injury to a minor. Henderson and Jones, who were arraigned in Superior Court Tuesday, were held on $400,000 bond, Shumway said. According to corrections records, Jones' bail was reduced to $300,500 and Henderson's to $300,000. Both men are being held at the New Haven Correctional Center.
