Description
LONG VALLEY, NJ — The next regular meeting of the Washington Township Committee has a number of ordinances on the table, two up for public hearing and a few being introduced, coming up for the committee's next regular meeting on Monday, Aug. 16 at 7 p.m. Among them is the affordable housing zoning ordinance, originally on the table for its public hearing and final adoption on July 19. This ordinance, already in place, is for housing in the Route 46 area and seeks to update the zoning to expand rental property opportunities. The revision will improve the "lot coverage standard," from the floor area ratio standard. The improved lot coverage standard, which is 60 percent on the books, will be 70 percent. This ordinance also needs New Jersey Highlands Council approval before it can be finalized. Among the others up for public hearing and adoption or introduction: An ordinance amendment for structures that are partially destroyed or "damaged beyond repair," is up for public hearing and adoption on Aug. 16. The ordinance would permit that any structure that was partially damaged or destroyed could be repaired, but not to the area that the first structure had been. Repairs would need to be started within two years. Buildings on farmland preserved lots may be enlarged, as long as the expansion doesn't create a "nonconforming condition." One ordinance being introduced on Aug. 16 earmarks $93,079.75 to Washington Township to buy body cameras and related equipment. There will be $71,330 from the Body-Worn Camera Grant Program and $21,749.75 from Washington Township's Open Space Trust Fund. Another ordinance up for introduction at the same meeting, will update the township's code, to remove a present requirement that a National Environmental Health Association CIOWTS advanced license holder needs to be on site for installations and inspections for a septic system and "advanced wastewater pretreatment device."
