Man Wanted On Federal Probation Warrant Found In Orland Park

ORLAND PARK, IL — An Orland Park man was arrested in connection with a federal probation warrant on Wednesday, Orland Park Police said. Lee Anglin, 50, previously served time in prison and was on parole in a $10 million federal fraud case, according to court records. Anglin failed to report back to prison on June 29 after violating the terms of his parole, prosecutors said, and a new warrant for his arrest was issued on July 9. Police said Anglin was taken into custody without incident at the Riviera Country Club, located at 8801 W. 143rd St., Orland Park. According to police, days prior to the arrest, a man tipped off the department that Anglin had been seen at the facility, which lead the department to contact the United States Marshals Service. Anglin was transported to the Everett M. Dirksen U.S. Courthouse by the United States Marshals Service, according to police. Police said the village is reviewing potential code, business and liquor license violations by the Riviera Country Club, which only recently reopened in June. Prosecutors said Anglin defrauded at least 67 victims by running advertisements that falsely promised a "guaranteed return" on investments in the Wall Street Journal and other well known publications. When investors responded, Anglin told them to wire money to an "escrow account" that was in his direct control, immediately. When investigators caught on to Anglin's activity, he was arrested and charged with wire fraud on March 24, 2006, according to court records. On Nov. 22, 2006, investigators added additional charges for mail fraud, wire fraud and money laundering. After serving more than a decade in prison, Anglin was released on parole in 2018. According to federal prosecutors, his parole was revoked after he failed to report a new business venture, which was a violation of the terms of his release.
