LEMONT, IL Back-to-school planning has already begun in Lemont, with calendars available to help parents prepare for the first day in Lemont-Bromberek CSD 113A and for Lemont High School District 210. The first day of school for most students for K-8 students in Lemont is scheduled for Aug. 18 while students at Lemont High School will report on Aug. 16. While school districts across Illinois vary on mask requirements for the upcoming school year, District 113A Superintendent Anthony McConnell said that district officials are strongly recommending face-coverings for students, but they won't be required for those students who have been fully vaccinated. McConnell said that administrators will continue to monitor positivity rates at a time when COVID-19 cases across the country are rising. He said that the district's policy on masks is based on local and state health department guidance but that local administrators will continue to monitor the situation and will "adjust accordingly" if needed.
