EAGAN, MN — Back-to-school planning has already begun in Eagan, with calendars available to help parents prepare for the first day in Independent School District 196, Independent School District 191 and Independent School District 197. The first day of school for most students in Eagan is Sept. 8. Heading into the upcoming school year, some dates are subject to change as the coronavirus pandemic nears its year-and-a-half point. A mix of in-person, virtual and hybrid learning is still possible in Eagan. Patch reached out to local school districts to inquire about mask policies for the 2021-22 school year. Tony Taschner, communications director for ISD 196, said that the district will update families on mask requirements via social media and the district's website after hearing state guidance. ISD 191 has not made any decisions regarding a mask policy for 2021-22 yet. "We have not made any decisions yet," Aaron Tinklenberg, communications director for the district, told Patch. "With guidance and the community health situation changing regularly, we're continuing to monitor those both and we'll make and announce a decision when we get closer to the school year."
