BURNSVILLE, MN — Dakota Electric Association recently announced that it awarded $160,000 in scholarships to 101 students in Dakota County. The following students from Burnsville High School received scholarships this year: Olivia CaldwellNicholas HjermstadWyatt IsaksonErika LeemanDalton LutzNahomi MeridSophie HilssonCiara NybergLauren PettisNathan Trussell Dakota Electric has donated $1,819,495 in scholarships since 1990, the association said. "We are pleased to be able to help our local students this way," Dakota Electric's President and CEO Greg Miller said. "As a not-for-profit electric cooperative, Dakota Electric is proud to provide these scholarships from unclaimed capital credits as an investment in the future of our local youth."The money for the scholarships comes from unclaimed patronage capital, or known as capital credits, the association said.
