Description
BURR RIDGE, IL — Burr Ridge's village administrator is still considered interim, but he has taken on a major new responsibility.
This week, the Village Board decided to assign the duties of the planner to Administrator Evan Walter. The planner's job has been a revolving door the last year.
Last fall, then-Administrator Doug Pollock agreed to become part-time planner after the mayor and board pressured him to step down. He had held the job for two decades before becoming administrator in 2017. However, a couple of months ago, Pollock resigned. In May, the village hired Joseph Arcus as the planner, but he quit after about six weeks, taking a job as planner for Lake County.
According to village documents, because of other staffing revisions, the planner's duties now amount to about 15 hours a week. The planner will serve as the staff liaison to the Plan Commission as well as for zoning reviews.
The documents also said the compensation for planners is generally going up. Elimination of the position, the village said, is expected to save taxpayers $90,000 a year.
Walter took the top job last fall after serving several years as the assistant administrator.
