Press release from the Dublin Unified School District: July 28, 2021 Dublin, CA – July 28, 2021 – The Dublin Unified School District, which serves over 12,900 students, from preschool through adult education, in a diverse suburban environment, confirmed three new hires during its July 20, 2021, Special Board Meeting. The Board confirmed David Wildy as the district's new Chief Technology Officer, Sharon Spivack as the new Senior Director of Special Education, and Sydney Wu as the new Accounting Manager. Pending board ratification during the August 10, 2021 board meeting, Jawan Eldridge will be the district's new Director of Human Resources. "Our staff is our number one asset, " said Chris Funk, Superintendent of the Dublin Unified School District. "When we reward them, foster their growth, and nourish their professional development, they are able to provide our students with the exceptional educational experience they deserve. Hiring the best people is the key to our success and I believe David, Sharon, Jawan, and Sydney are the right people for this district." David Wildy, Chief Technology OfficerDavid Wildy most recently served as the Coordinator of Technology Services, a Cabinet-level position, at the Martinez Unified School District. In this role, Mr. Wildy oversaw the daily operations of the district's Technology Department, including the management of its staff. He was also responsible for overseeing technology purchases and implementations, network security, customer service, and vendor management. During the shelter-in-place, David and his team provided over two thousand Chromebooks to students and laptops to educators. He worked directly with district and site staff on technology initiatives to support teachers and students in the classroom. Before his time in Martinez, he worked at California State University, East Bay in the Department of Student Housing and Residence Life for nearly two decades. In this role, he oversaw and supervised professional and student staff members in Information Technology, Facilities, and Purchasing. Mr. Wildy has a Bachelor of Arts from San Jose State University and a Masters Degree in Public Administration, Public Management, and Policy Analysis from California State University, East Bay. Sharon Spivack, Senior Director of Special EducationSharon Spivack brings twenty-five years of experience in classroom education, special education, and site administration to the role of Senior Director of Special Education. Most recently, Ms. Spivack served as the Program Manager for Special Education and Student Services in the Cupertino Union School District, where she provided extensive special education guidance and program management, worked closely with site team administrators to build capacity and increase staff accountability and worked with staff to develop and implement their district's special education and Multi-Tiered System of Supports (MTSS) programs. Ms. Spivack has also held special education leadership roles for the Santa Clara County Office of Education and the San Jose Unified School District. She is skilled in building programs, providing professional development for staff, and maintaining compliance with state and federal regulations related to special education. She brings a breadth of experience and a commitment to serving students who have needs based on their socio-economic situation, social/emotional issues, racial diversity, and diagnosed disabilities. Ms. Spivack has a Bachelor of Arts degree from Oklahoma City University, and a Masters of Arts degree in Special Education from the University of New Mexico. Jawan Eldridge, Director of Human Resources Jawan Eldridge comes to the Dublin Unified School District from the West Contra Costa Unified School District (WCCUSD), where he served as the Principal of Peres K-8 school. In this role, his responsibilities included recruiting, hiring, and training both classified and certificated staff members. Mr. Eldridge served on the WCCUSD negotiating team where he learned a great deal about interest-based negotiations, collective bargaining agreements, and school district funding. He recently completed the Association of California School Administrators Personnel Academy in order to better be prepared for this Human Resources position. Having started his career in education as a fifth-grade teacher, Mr. Eldridge has spent the last dozen years in site leadership roles. Mr. Eldridge earned a Bachelor of Arts in Communication from the University of New Haven and a Masters in Educational Leadership and Tier 1 Administration from Chapman University. Sydney Wu, Accounting ManagerSydney Wu comes to the Dublin Unified School District from the Alameda County Office of Education, where she served as a Client Support Analyst. In this role, she troubleshoots and resolves problems users have related to accounting, payroll, and related software. She also supports software training and development needs. In her previous role as Payroll Account Technician for the Castro Valley Unified School District, Ms. Wu was responsible for making sure employees were paid accurately and on time. She prepared and filed payroll tax reports for government agencies, including monthly taxes, quarterly taxes, and W-2s.
