JOHNS CREEK, GA — A man was charged with two felonies, including criminal damage to property, after he shot at a car, Johns Creek Police said.
On July 19, Johns Creek Police responded to Brooksbridge Crossing in the Colony Glen subdivision.
The call was related to the victim's truck being shot with a firearm overnight. Officers met with the victim and found four shots fired into the victim's truck.
A neighborhood canvas found that at least two residents heard three to four distinct sounds that sounded like gunfire around 4 a.m.
Continued investigations found that the victim recently received threatening messages via social media from someone he had not seen in about nine years.
On July 21, investigators were able to identify, locate and contact the suspected shooter. The suspect, identified as Eric Hurtado-Arteaga, 26, was charged with two felonies: criminal damage to property and theft by receiving a stolen firearm.
A search of the suspect's apartment in Roswell turned up a pistol reported stolen out of the City of Atlanta. Preliminary investigations believe this was the firearm used during the crime.
"We are very thankful no one was injured or seriously hurt during this incident," Chief of Police Mark J. Mitchell said in a news release. "I am also grateful for the hard work and dedication of our Officers and Detectives, which brought a safe and successful resolution to this violent situation."
