DOUGLASVILLE, GA — A Carroll County woman accused of stealing a senior citizen's identity — and more than $50,000 from her bank accounts — was indicted last week by a grand jury in Douglas County. Michele Aiken, 50, of Temple, is alleged to have obtained credit cards, a travel trailer and a mortgage using the elderly woman's identity, according to the Douglas County Sentinel. The Douglasville newspaper reported Wednesday that Aiken is alleged to have withdrawn about $50,000 from the victim's bank accounts during 2017 and 2018. Aiken is also accused of mortgaging the victim's home for $100,000, then using nearly $42,000 of the proceeds to make payments on a credit card. Aiken was indicted by a Douglas County grand jury for identity fraud and exploitation of an elderly person, according to the Sentinel. Read the complete story in The Douglas County Sentinel.
