The Alabama Law Enforcement Agency took over the investigation into the shooting death of Selma Police Officer Marquis Moorer in the early morning hours Tuesday at a Selma apartment complex. The Associated Press reports Moorer's girlfriend or wife was also wounded in the shooting.
Javonte Stubbs, 18, was then identified as a suspect and eventually arrested by U.S. Marshals and SBI Agents in Tuscaloosa on Wednesday. Stubbs is charged with capital murder of a law enforcement officer, capital murder-shooting into an occupied dwelling, and attempted murder.
Numerous reports also confirmed that Stubbs was transported to Chilton County to be held until his court appearance Friday.
Moorer is the third Selma Police Department officer to be killed in the line of duty in the department's history and the 581st in Alabama's history.
