I am Annie Harkey-Power. I have been playing cello for 35 years and teaching for 22 years. I’m a regular member of the Vancouver Symphony and Oregon East Symphony as well as a substitute in groups around the Northwest and as far as Juneau, Alaska. I have a BS in Music from the University of Oregon. I am returning to teaching in person at my Portland studio, Musikhaus, 1217 SW 19th Ave. Portland, OR 97205 on Wednesdays. I am looking for serious students of all levels and ages. I specialize in orchestral music and can be very helpful to a young cellist looking to audition for a local youth orchestra like PYP or MYS. I often work with amateur cellists in local community orchestras. Beginning cellists are welcome in my studio as well. I am focused on helping my students sound their best and make as much progress as possible but with self confidence, enjoyment, and good technique. I enjoy history and sometimes talk about how we tell stories through music. Weekly lessons are $50 for 45 minutes or $75 per hour. I’m excited to play some cello with you!
