Job description Position Summary / Purpose The Water Damage Specialist I has the responsibility to respond to dispatched emergency calls. This includes any mitigation damages due to fire, water and/or storm damage events. Principal Duties and Responsibilities Visit new assignments/jobs and meet with the client Develop moisture mapping and create a drying-log Save documentation and photographs Mold Remediation Water Damage Restoration Inventory and load the work vehicle with equipment, products, and supplies needed for each project Maintain a clean and organized vehicle and clean equipment appearance Prepare rooms/areas for work activities. Set up staging area and equipment for each project. Clear communication with Project Lead, Manager and other technicians (especially if it is regarding customer needs and concerns). End-of-day/end-of-job cleanup and breakdown. Additional Duties and Responsibilities * Basic general construction/restoration experience preferred but not required Must be able to lift a minimum of 75 pounds Ability to wear a full body suit, half face respirator and work in confined spaces and hot working environments with limited visibility Ability to use hand tools and electric tools safely and effectively Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing Willingness to learn new things Perform other duties as assigned. Must be available to work nights and weekends when needed. Performance Competencies Oral Communication - The individual speaks clearly and persuasively in positive or negative situations. Able to effectively communicate with existing and new customers in understandable terms. Written Communication - Writes clear, precise, well organized estimates, proposals and emails. The individual edits work for spelling, uses appropriate vocabulary and has impeccable grammar. Is able to read and interpret written information. Planning and Organizing - Has the ability to see the overall job from start to finish. Understanding the steps to be taken and resources and time required. Technology - Regularly uses standard word processing and spreadsheet software tools to enhance efficiency and accuracy of work performed. Effectively uses communication devices and technology to collect, review and forward field activity reporting. Attention to detail and keen sense of safeguarding other people's property Familiarity with chemical products including use, disposal, and Material Safety Data Sheets. Willing to work nights and weekends when requested. Periodic travel. While performing the duties of this job, the employee will frequently be lifting in excess of 75 lbs. Sustained periods of standing, walking, bending, and kneeling. Access and mobility in tight spaces. Working Conditions The work of this position is predominantly carried out in a home, office or commercial building. The work will be performed at facilities where standing water and sewage are present, heat is unavailable due to lack of utilities, fire damage has occurred and mold or other organic growth exists. Noise level in the work environment is moderate to high.
