Staff Zone a leading provider of light industrial and construction staffing has immediate openings for men and women with their own transportation for an industrial laundry facility in the sorting department. This is an ONGOING long term contract not affected by the weather!! Job Summary: The laundry sorter is responsible for sorting incoming soiled laundry in preparation for the laundry process. May also do projects such as folding and boxing cleaned linens. Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities: This position will work within a team of people performing similar duties. Along with one or more team members, worker may perform some or all of the following duties during a given shift: Manually open bags containing soiled linen Push or pull a cart from the adjoining Sorting area Sort linen by hand to identify and separate by type Pick up and place linen in the appropriate bins Perform job rotation as required Minimum Qualifications: Reading and writing comprehension, computer and math skills typically associated with a high school level education Quality orientation and high attention to detail Able to manage multiple tasks and priorities and easily adapt to changing situations Strong teamwork skills- ready and willing to work closely with team members Day and night shifts available. Day shift $9.50 start with pay raise after 30 days (M-F 7-330pm with potential for extra hours daily) Night shifts $11 to start (Sun 2pm - until and Mon - Thurs 4pm - until done with potential for extra hours nightly) Open to long hours and working weekends depending on production needs (Sat/Sun) Able to lift an excess of 35 lbs MUST have own dependable transportation to and from work. Preferred Qualifications: High School Diploma Prior experience working in a plant environment a PLUS but not necessary Physical Requirements: The position requires constant standing, bending, stooping, reaching, twisting, walking and the ability to lift and handle material with weight up to 35 lbs and moving carts while wearing personal protective equipment. Work Environment: This position exists primarily within the plant environment. The job environment is typically warm with elevated noise levels and other hazards.
