Upset, Frustration & Anger - Kids' Group
This group is for children aged 6-8 experiencing difficulty regulating negative emotions, like upset (crying, whining, tantruming), frustration or anger. In this group, kids will learn skills to improve their ability to manage their "Big" feelings and express them in positive ways. Molly, the group facilitator, has experience facilitating group therapy with children and teaching coping skills in a variety of fun ways, including books, worksheets, art projects, and therapeutic games. Parents will be invited in at the end of each session for a brief summary of group activities and discussion.
Lesson/discussion Topics:
Exploring BIG feelings, increasing emotion vocabulary, normalizing negative feelings
Differentiating thoughts, feelings and behavior; and understanding their connection
Learning calming coping skills to manage negative feelings and improve self control
Practicing ways to express negative feelings in positive ways
I provide a holistic counseling experience for those who want to make changes in their life in a positive way. Counseling opens the individual's eyes to the positives in their lives and make changes in the negative parts. Individuals have the strength in them to make changes and I help guide then to make the changes.
I want to help people develop coping skills and spend the time to help them learn some new ways to feel better and deal with the daily stressors.
