IFMA Wichita August 2021 - Be a Leader Who Works Across Factions & Tribes “Be a Leader Who Works Across Factions & Tribes” will consist of: 1) An overview of the importance of exercising and practicing leadership as one of the twelve core competencies of a Facility Manager (through IFMA). 2) A focus on the leadership skill of working across factions and tribes using Kansas Leadership Center content and some excerpts from Tribal Leadership. 3) A discussion with Wichita IFMA Vice President, Joel Elsea, about applying this skill and his own leadership journey. 4) Lastly, we will share tools to learn more about this and other leadership skills. Damon believes that leadership can be applied at all levels within an organization, so regardless of your ‘position or title’, please make a point of attending this program! Damon Young, President, Mahaney Group Damon Young is a proud member of the Kansas Business Community with a passion for service, workforce development and leadership. He is on the Board of Directors of the Wichita and Kansas Chambers of Commerce and other industry specific boards, including Wichita’s International Facility Management Association local Chapter where he is has served as president among other roles in the chapter. Damon is actively involved in Lead Wichita, the Global Leadership Summit, Wichita Prayer Breakfast, and has over 100 hours of leadership training from the Kansas Leadership Center. As President of Mahaney Group, Damon leads his organization as they seek to ‘elevate excellence’ in the construction industry. He has a degree in organizational management and leadership from Friends University. Damon is happily married and has 5 children ranging from elementary school to college age. Joel Elsea, CFM, FRMP, Director - Facilities, Curo Financial Technologies Joel is the Director of Facilities for Curo Financial Technologies and handles all things related to facilities. He's responsible for hiring and developing his team and plans, budgets, and schedules facilities maintenance. He works with public utility, environmental, and energy agencies to make sure all facilities are maintained. Joel received his Bachelor of Science from Wichita State University. He serves as the IFMA Wichita Vice President, coaches AYSO soccer, and is Chairman of the Northwest YMCA Advisory Board. He is also a past recipient of the Wichita Business Journal 40 Under 40. IFMA Wichita is the facility management professional association to provide services, products, resources, and opportunities to our members.
