Bass Pro Shops Founder Johnny Morris made a surprise announcement that Bass Pro Shops will cover 25 percent of funding for the next 100 donated homes to encourage Americans to get involved in Helping a Hero’s Wounded Hero Home Program. For more information, visit basspro.com/shop/en/helping-a-hero. To buy a ticket, please go to hahypkickoff.eventbrite.com or become a monthly donor at helpingahero.org/donate. You do not have to be a Young Professional to attend. To join the host committee, the commitment is to give or raise $1,000. You could also join the auction committee by collecting three auction items. If you cannot attend, please consider making a donation at helpingahero.org/donate. Sponsorship opportunities are also available. SSG Shilo Harris, USA (Ret) is a true American hero who survived a terrible incident when his armored vehicle was struck by an IED. The explosion injured the driver and ended the lives of three of his fellow soldiers. Shilo survived but with severe third degree burns on 35% of his body. The severity of the burns meant the loss of Shilo’s ears, the tip of his nose and three fingers. The crushing explosion fractured his left collarbone and C-7 vertebrae. Today, Shilo is a motivational speaker and author, sharing his story with groups around the country, raising awareness for PTSD and serving as an inspiration to fellow soldiers. State Rep. Jacey Jetton is a 7th generation Texan who represents Sugar Land, Richmond, and the surrounding areas in the Texas House of Representatives where he was just named the freshman of the year. Jetton served in the Texas Army National Guard where he was attached to a mechanized infantry unit in the 36th Infantry Division. Representative Jetton will be appearing in his official capacity representing the State of Texas. Chris Mitchell is a genre-spanning sax superstar and a Grammy Recording Academy saxophonist born in Houston. Attendees will have the opportunity to experience his music during the welcome reception. We appreciate your support for our nation's veterans. Should you have any questions, please contact me at 828.246.4013 or [email protected] All the best, Jacob J. Way
