Description
THE COMMON COMPOUNDS – This is one in a series of genus-specific tree-tours sponsored by The Dendro Lab-NYC in Central Park
Compound leaves, opposed to simple leaves, consist of multiple leaf surfaces called leaflets. This leaf type comes from a variety of unrelated plant families, but learning them as a group makes identification much easier. You already know many by their common names: hickory, walnut, buckeye, ash, and sumac.
Please note: Meeting spot is across the street from the American Museum of Natural History at the bronze bust of Alexander Von Humboldt at CPW and West 77th Street This entrance to the park is aptly called "Naturalists' Gate."
