Join parents, students and supporters from Illinois school districts as we rally to tell Gov. Pritzker we want a universal mask mandate NOW for Illinois schools. Numerous districts have decided to ignore recommendations from the CDC, IDPH and county health departments and have made masking optional this fall. We are not OK with recklessly exposing our children to the COVID-19 virus with this lack of protection. Let’s stand up and be heard! Children under the age of 12 are not currently eligible to receive the COVID-19 vaccine and 67 percent of kids aged 12-17 in Illinois are NOT vaccinated. This "mask optional" adoption by these Illinois districts is not acceptable! All students should be wearing masks in school to protect each other from being exposed to COVID-19. Mandating masks for ALL students, regardless of vaccination status, will lessen the potential spread of the deadly COVID-19 virus and help protect those students and staff who are unable to receive the vaccine, those who have received the vaccine but are immuno-compromised and keep our COVID rates down in our communities.
