Growing Resilient Local Food Systems A conference for producers and supporters of local foods What is the Local Foods Conference?The Local Foods Conference is a two day, in person, event celebrating local food production & use in South Dakota. All supporters of local food are invited to attend, listen to, and discuss presentations on specialty crop production, addressing challenges, new technologies & opportunties, and food production projects happening in South Dakota and neighboring states. Our keynote speaker this year is Jean-Martin Fortier, a well known Candadian specialtry crop producer and author of The Market Gardener. He will be sharing his experience helping producers, and presenting on on Working with Living Soils. While he will be our sole presenter joining us virtually at our 2021 conference, the experiencce will be designed with plenty of Q & A and audience interaction. During the Local Foods Conference, you will also be able to enjoy meals served by local chefs utilizing local ingredients, and attend tours of Sturgis locations involved in local food production. When purchasing your ticket, please select which tour you would like to attend- please note that space on tours is limited. Lodging OptionsA hotel block under Local Foods Conference has been set up at Days Inn. Call 605-430-3147. This block has a rate of $75 + tax per room per night for 2 adults, with an additional $10 for each additional person. This rate is available for reservations made by October 25th.
