Description

Promoting awareness about Sickle Cell Disease and how it affects our community and celebrating warriors who are in the fight daily! Sickle Cell disease is one of the most “overlooked” diseases. Through this foundation our mission is to help spread awareness and make an impact on as many communities as possible. Awareness is key, and through outreach and education we can make major steps towards breaking the Sickle Cell Cycle! This organization was founded and ran by Vesha Jamison, a “Sickle Cell SuperMom.” Inspired by her son Dreylan, who is a Sickle Cell Warrior, it is named in his honor. Seeing the fight that Sickle Cell patients go through, Vesha deemed it necessary to become an advocate; not only for those who suffer from the disease but also for their families, as they are affected greatly as well. In the years to come, Vesha aspires to grow awareness throughout local communities, on a state level, and eventually making a national impression. Vesha also anticipates being able to give high school seniors who suffer with Sickle Cell Disease, a college scholarship. “We don’t just only acknowledge World Sickle Cell Day (June 19th) and put on activities during National Sickle Cell Awareness Month in September, but we go hard for our warriors 365 days per year. They fight EVERYDAY and so should we!” ~Vesha Jamison
