Description

Traffic Data Collection Technician $20 to $25 per hour Monday thru Friday - 25 to 30 hours per week (hours vary from day to day) TYPE OF WORK: We collect traffic data throughout the bay area using a variety of methods listed below starting with the most commonly used: We place rubber tubes across roadways and fasten them down by hammering nails on both ends into the road. The tubes are then connected to a machine that you program using a laptop. You must be able to cross the street swiftly and safely. Many of the roads will be wide and have regular traffic. We place video cameras at intersections for turning movement counts. This is done by securing an extendable pole to a light pole (etc.) using ratchet straps, positioning the camera to get a clear view of the entire intersection, and programming specific times to record on the monitor (which attaches to the pole). We do parking studies where you have to manually record the number of vehicles in a parking lot. These counts vary, but typically they are done every 30/60 minutes for 8 hours straight. We do other manual counts using count boards which may require you to stand for a few hours straight. REQUIREMENTS: Good driving record Good physical condition (able to lift 50 lbs regularly) Able to read maps (we use the Google Maps app on our phones) Basic computer skills Follow specific directions Able to work on your own without direct supervision and complete assigned work meeting deadlines Must be punctual and reliable Please send a short resume to [email protected]
