SALEM, MA — A 13-year-old boy who did not return to a Salem apartment for hours after leaving to walk his dog Monday afternoon was found safe in Marblehead. Salem police said Owen Hansen, who is visiting the area with his family from Minnesota, was reunited with his family after a frantic search Monday night. Salem police had asked for the public's help in locating Hansen after he left the Perkins Street apartment with his dog about 2 p.m. and was still missing well into the night. Police thoroughly searched the area amid fears he may have lost his way in an unfamiliar city. "The Salem Police Department would like to thank our law enforcement and public safety partners and members of the public for their assistance in the search for Owen," Salem police said Tuesday morning. "Great teamwork!" Did you find this article useful? Invite a friend to subscribe to Patch. (Scott Souza is a Patch field editor covering Beverly, Danvers, Marblehead, Peabody, Salem and Swampscott.
