The Apple Cider Century (ACC) is an annual oneday 15, 25, 37, 50, 62, 75 or 100 mile bicycle tour of the orchards, forests and wine country in and around Three Oaks, Michigan on the last Sunday in September. WHEN Sunday, September 26, 2021 Start Time: 7:30 am SHARP (Eastern Time) Start Location: Three Oaks Elementary School, 100 Oak St, Three Oaks, MI 49128 Pace: Cyclists will ride at their own paces. The group will not be expected to stay together. Distance: Options of 15, 25, 37, 50, 62, 75 or 100 miles MTC3 Ride Contact Person: Shawn A Conley/[email protected]/773-484-5543 The ACC is a recreational and social tour for bicyclists. It is neither a race nor a test of stamina. It is intended that all participants ride the tour in a safe and intelligent manner. The ACC route map in your registration packet shows all SAG stop locations, found approximately every 15-20 miles. SAG stops will be open for a set time only, so check your map for times of operation. There will be plenty of apples, bananas, cider, cookies and high energy snacks. In case of wet or cold weather, hot potato soup will be available. Because of the great number of ACC riders, the Emergency and Repair SAG Wagonswill be limited to those with justifiable needs. First attention will go to those whose bicycles have irreparable breakdowns or the rider who has become ill or injured. Those riders who have simply tired in the early miles will receive last priority. Sunday morning packet pickupbegins at 6:00 a.m. E.D.T. at the Three Oaks Elementary School. Riders arriving on Sunday should use Exit 4 (I94) at Three Oaks from the west and Exit 12 (I94) at Sawyer from the north and east. Signs and security personnel will direct you to the start & finish location of Three Oaks Elementary School (T.O.E.S.). Parking is available at the elementary school and also parking just west of downtown Three Oaks off of US12. PLEASE WEAR YOUR MAJOR TAYLOR CHICAGO KITS! HELMETS ARE REQUIRED ON ALL MAJOR TAYLOR CHICAGO RIDES! http://majortaylorchicago.com/riderules/ WHAT TO BRING TO AN MTC3 RIDE: Part of being a good cyclist is having the tools and accessories necessary to be selfsufficient, safe, and ready to ride. Below is a general list of items to bring and a todo list to be ready for an MTC3 ride. Gear Bag: buy a gear bag (saddle bag is recommended) and stock it with the basics – extra tube, tire tools, a small multitool, and either a minipump or a CO2 cartridge set. Tire Pressure: pump your tires up before coming to the ride, or bring a floor pump that you can use in the parking lot before the ride. If you need help, MTC3 ride leaders will be there to help you learn. Your bike: Give it a quick inspection. Spin the wheels to make sure they aren’t rubbing. Do the gears shift accurately and easily? Does everything seem to be in order? This is called an ABC check. (Air, Brakes, and Chain) Hydration/Food: Remember to bring water/sports drink and maybe an energy snack (bar, gel, banana, etc). ● Optional items: The following will make your ride more enjoyable, but aren’t absolutely necessary. Cycling gloves, sunglasses, cycling shoes and clipless pedals, padded cycling shorts. ● Be on Time: MTC3 rides leave promptly at the advertised time.  The Major Taylor Cycling Club Chicago invites you to join us on a variety of rides and events.
