MARBLEHEAD, MA —The Marblehead-based SPUR is looking for donations to supplement matching funds for a program that teaches young people how to steward and advocate for causes important to them.
The goal of the program is to engage youth to foster a positive impact on their community.
The Gilson Family Foundation has pledged $23,000 that SPUR is hoping to match with donations to get the program started.
The program hopes to offer an array of workshops, seed-grant programs and service-based summer camps, among other activities, to inspire children and teens to be more involved in their communities.
The funding will help develop the age-appropriate curriculum using evidence-based best practices for community education.
Tax-deductible gifts can be made via checks to SPUR, PO Box 1274, Marblehead, MA with "Enrichment Programs" written in the memo line. Gifts can also be made via credit card here.
SPUR primarily serves the communities of Lynn, Marblehead, Salem and Swampscott.
