Description

Intercultural Diversity Center will host a hybrid screening of "Miss Representation" on Friday, August 27, 2021 at 7pm in person & on Zoom. The Intercultural Diversity Center will kick off its Fall 2021 Social Justice Movie Series featuring Miss Representation. Like drawing back a curtain to let bright light stream in, MISS REPRESENTATION uncovers a glaring reality we live with every day but fail to see. Written and directed by Jennifer Siebel Newsom, the film exposes how mainstream media contributes to the under-representation of women in positions of power and influence in America. The film challenges the media's limited and often disparaging portrayals of women and girls, which make it difficult for women to achieve leadership positions and for the average woman to feel powerful herself. Refreshments will be provided for all students, faculty and staff. Attendees will also have the chance to win prizes. A hybrid model of this program will be provided for all participants to engage virtually through Zoom. Miss Representation will take place on Friday, August 27, 2021 at 7pm in the Intercultural Diversity Center (Ferguson 2100) Dr. Christine Taylor Vice President and Associate Provost of Diversity, Equity and Inclusion
