KING COUNTY, WA — Washington State Patrol investigators are looking to hear from anyone who witnessed a shooting on Interstate 5 early Tuesday that left two men injured in the Kent area. In a news release Tuesday afternoon, WSP said the men called 911 shortly before 1 a.m. reporting they were shot by a person in another vehicle while driving north on I-5, near State Route 516. The Seattle Times reports the pair was headed to work at Boeing, and investigators do not believe they were targeted. WSP said the victim driver was shot in his left shoulder, and his passenger suffered a gunshot wound to his forearm. Troopers provided first aid at the scene before medics took them to Harborview Medical Center for treatment. During an interview with detectives at the hospital, WSP said the victims said a car pulled up on the driver's side and someone inside opened fire, striking the passenger. After that, someone inside a second vehicle fired even more shots. Troopers said neither man was able to provide a detailed description of the vehicles involved, except that both were passenger cars. WSP encourages anyone with information that could help solve the case to contact investigators by e-mail or calling 425-401-7747.
