Pierce County Firefighters Head North To Battle Cedar Creek Fire

MAZAMA, WA — Several Pierce County firefighters have shipped out to join the battle against a massive wildfire burning in Okanogan County. East Pierce Fire and Rescue confirms it has sent its Brush 116, staffed by firefighters Brian O'Leary, Mike Malland and Bo Monson, out to Mazama to help contain the Cedar Creek Fire. Nearby, the even larger Cub Creek 2 fire is burning to the northeast. (Google Maps)The Cedar Creek Fire has burned an estimated 24,647 acres, Methow Valley News reported. As it has moved closer to Mazama, it has forced several neighborhoods to evacuate their homes. East Pierce Fire's Brush 116 is not the only outside help that has arrived to help contain the blaze. According to the Seattle Times, as of Friday those fires had burned a combined 638,000 acres.
