Kidnapping Suspect Found In Wallingford, Arrested: Meriden Police

WALLINGFORD, CT — A man accused of kidnapping a person in Meriden was arrested after they were both found in Wallingford on Monday, according to police. Meriden police responded to the 100 block of Broad Street in Meriden around 1 p.m. on Monday on the report of a possible kidnapping. Police found that the victim was forced into a white four-door vehicle by a man who was known to them. The man was later identified as Cameron Acevedo, according to police. The victim was a missing person, and police notified surrounding towns and Connecticut State Police. Through investigation, the victim and Acevedo were found in Wallingford, according to police. Police said the victim was found safe and Acevedo was taken into custody without incident with assistance from the Wallingford Police Department. Acevedo, who is a convicted felon, was found to be in the possession of a handgun, which wasn't used during the incident, according to police. Acevedo, 28, was arrested on charges of second-degree kidnapping, criminal possession of a firearm, first-degree unlawful restraint, first-degree reckless endangerment, third-degree assault, second-degree breach of peace, possession of a high-capacity magazine, and operating a motor vehicle without a license. He was held in lieu of a $750,000 bond.
