HOWARD COUNTY, MD — Ellicott City residents and business owners are no strangers to flooding. Howard County leaders implemented the Ellicott City Safe and Sound plan to mitigate the effects of flooding from storms and will be hosting a public meeting Aug. 2 from 6 to 7:30 p.m. to discuss what has been done and what projects are left to tackle. The meeting will be held in-person in the Banneker Room at the George Howard Building in Ellicott City. There will not be a virtual option. "I am encouraged by the progress we have made, and I know there is still much more work to do on our flood mitigation projects as well as continuing support for our town holistically to ensure its continued success," Howard County Executive Calvin Ball said. "We're grateful for the continued engagement and collaboration from our residents as we work through the Ellicott City Safe and Sound plan. This year has been especially trying on our businesses in Ellicott City, and we will continue to provide support to ensure our town will thrive for years to come." Representatives from county departments, as well as project consultants, will be on hand to answer questions about the projects. Participants will have an opportunity to visit project-specific stations to talk directly to the people managing each project.
