JERSEY CITY, NJ — Gun violence claimed another victim in Jersey City early Tuesday morning, following two other deadly incidents this weekend. A woman was shot and killed attending a vigil for a young man who was a victim of gun violence just this weekend, according to Mayor Steven Fulop. The Hudson County Prosecutor's Office confirmed early Tuesday morning that an investigation was underway for a shooting that happened just before 1 a.m. on Grant Avenue and MLK Drive in Jersey City, where a woman was killed. The shooting happened in the same area as the vigil, but the HCPO said they could not confirm whether the woman was participating in the vigil. The woman was identified as Felicia Stewart, 30, of Jersey City. Stewart was shot in the back while on Grant Avenue and MLK Drive in Jersey City — she was rushed to Jersey City Medical Center where she was pronounced dead, according to the HCPO. No arrests have been made at this time. Anyone with information is asked to contact the Office of the Hudson County Prosecutor at 201-915-1345 or to leave an anonymous tip at: http://www.hudsoncountyprosecutorsofficenj.org/homicide-tip/. Shortly after the HCPO's tweet, Mayor Fulop posted on Facebook that a woman was killed attending a vigil when "someone fired into the group of people at the vigil." Fulop said the woman is the 13th victim of gun violence in the city this year. On Saturday morning, Raquan Bass, 26, was shot and killed on Grant Avenue, in the same area as the vigil where the woman was killed Tuesday morning. In another deadly incident this weekend, a 55-year-old Jersey City man identified as Steven Bardsley, was charged with murder in connection with a Saturday night stabbing on Cambridge Avenue.
