WESTERN SPRINGS, IL — Western Springs police released their latest blotter Tuesday. Here is information from the reports: A resident in the 4300 block of Western Avenue was the victim of a scam when he agreed to a Facebook transaction. A check was deposited in his account for $3,000. The amount was supposed to be $300, so the victim paid back more than $1,500 in the form of gift cards. Then the check in his account was canceled, so he suffered a financial loss. He filed a report July 19.A woman in the 800 block of Hillgrove Avenue told police that her unoccupied, parked car was struck July 19, resulting in damage to the driver's side panel. The driver of the truck that struck her car did not stop and report the crash. A witness observed the driver. A bicycle was stolen July 20 from a basketball court at Spring Rock Park in the 4400 block of Central Avenue. The bike was valued at $500.An employee of a landscaping company told police that two men stole two power blowers from a work site July 20 in the 6200 block of Flagg Creek Lane. The mowers were valued at more than $1,000.
