Here are the top stories today in Sacramento: According to The California Highway Patrol, a contract construction worker was hit and killed in a hit-and-run accident on Hwy 99 on Monday night. The worker had just finished putting up a construction warning sign when the driver hit the man and knocked him into an oncoming big rig. The worker was declared dead at the scene. CHP is looking for a Ford F-150 with damage to the right hand side. (KCRA3)If you're attending Sac State in the Fall you will be required to have your vaccinations for COVID-19 (as will all other California State College students). The recent spike in COVID cases due to the Delta variant "is an alarming new factor that we must consider as we look to maintain the health and well-being of students, employees and visitors to our campuses this fall," CSU Chancellor Joseph I. Castro said in a release. As a result, vaccinations will be required by the CSU system. (KCRA3)The inmate who walked away from a minimum security firefighting camp in El Dorado County has been recaptured. Edgar Benitez is serving time for first-degree residential burglary in L.A. County. He walked away from his dorm in Saturday night, but was recaptured in Modesto on Monday. (Good Day Sacramento)This Folsom fence seems more like a target than a barrier. The homeowners say 5 cars have crashed through their back fence since they moved in. One of the crashes was just a few days ago. They say they are afraid to go into their backyard for fear of being hit. They have reached out to the county of Sacramento and the city of Folsom for help with the situation, but have not yet had success in getting mitigating elements installed. (FOX40)Sacramento refugee Omar Ameen, who is fighting to stay in the US after being accused of murdering an Iraqi police officer and of lying on his refugee application, was in court in LA on Tuesday. A federal judge in Sacramento determined that the original murder charges were not valid as evidence showed that he was not in the country when the crime took place. After being released from federal custody, Ameen was detained by ICE under the charges that he lied on his refugee application.
