NAPERVILLE, IL — A 29-year-old Naperville man died Monday after he was fatally injured in a motorcycle and car crash near Washington Street and Royce Road. Police were called to the scene just after 3:30 p.m. for a report that a 2007 black Honda motorcycle had been in a crash with a 2001 silver Dodge Durango being driven by a 54-year-old Bolingbrook woman. The motorcyclist, who was seriously injured in the crash, was rushed to Edward Hospital and pronounced dead shortly after his arrival. According to a preliminary investigation, police say the motorcycle driver was heading north in the left through lane of Washington Street as the Durango driver, who was heading south on Washington Street, turned east onto Royce Road. The vehicles crashed after they entered the intersection, according to police. Naperville Police Department's traffic unit was at the scene for several hours, working to investigate and reconstruct the crash, officials said. The investigation left Washington Street closed from Boughton Road to Naper Boulevard until around 8:30 p.m. As the crash investigation continues, residents with information are urged to contact the Naperville Police Department's traffic unit at 630-305-5477.
