JOLIET, IL — A well-known member of Joliet's motocross community suffered serious injuries during an accident Saturday at the Joliet track. The GoFundMe established for Adam White aims to raise at least $20,000 to defray his medical expenses.
Within just a few hours of the GoFundMe being unveiled on Tuesday morning, more than $6,000 from 39 donations has already been collected.
White is also scheduled to undergo his first surgery on Tuesday, according to the GoFundMe. He was airlifted from St. Joe's hospital in Joliet to the University of Chicago Medical Center on Saturday.
"The team at UChicago was able to triage his injuries which include several small brain bleeds, fractured pelvis, wrist, ribs, tibia, fibula, facial fractures, thoracic compression fractures, minor trauma to arteries in his neck, and a collapsed lung," the GoFundMe reads. "Adam's road to recovery will be long and involved. The medical bills as a result of this accident will be extensive.
According to the GoFundMe, White's wife, Emilie remains at his side at the Chicago hospital while their sons, Noah, 5, and Marcus, 2, are being watched by grandparents.
