Event Dates and Location Hiring for Montana State Fair, July 30 - August 7 (9 days) or $1,080. MUST BE AVAILABLE FOR ENTIRE EVENT. Montana Expopark, 400 3rd St NW, Great Falls, MT 59404. Job Description_ Wear our custom costumes for pubic events most commonly state and county fairgrounds. In the industry we are referred to as a walking, appearance, or "strolling" act. Drive our car costumes and perform for crowds of patrons greeting them with high fives while taking pictures and selfies. Be friendly and engage with kids and their parents. All travel and hotels are provided. Physical Requirements_ This is a very physical job, you must be comfortable with being outside in the summer covered in sweat. Costumes are designed around a physical stature of 5'11" / 165 lbs. Height is generally not an issue, however you will fit more comfortably if you are shorter than 6'3" or taller than 5'8". Weight must not exceed more than 200lbs. Operators must be in good physical condition in order to fit inside and operate costumes. The average weight of each costume is 50 lbs across the body, or approximately 30 lbs. on the shoulders and back, 7.5 lbs. on each leg, and 5 lbs. on helmet. Those with back, shoulder or neck injuries should not apply. Payment_ Compensation is 120$ a day for 3 hours in costume, 6 - 8 hours on site. All travel and hotels are provided. You are only responsible for your food. Time In Costume_ We are in costume three hours per day broken up into three, one hour sets with a one hour break between sets. When not preforming you may sleep, be on your phone, eat, or enjoy the festival and its events. Time At Event_ We are generally on site six to eight hours per day. Generally we arrive an hour before our first scheduled performance that day and eat lunch, perform for an hour, rest for an hour, perform for an hour, rest for an hour, perform for an hour, and then return back to the hotel. Hiring Attributes_ Above all you must physically be able to wear and operate the costumes. We do a lot of family and children based events. You must be good with kids and drug and alcohol free while on the job. Background in any performance art is not necessary but a plus as we try to give the costumes as much character as possible. We do not speak when in costume and use our hands and other gestures to communicate with our audience. There isn't any formal education or training required for this job. We are more interested in someone that can present themselves professionally and represent our company as friendly, reliable, and hard working. You must have a cell phone. Pros to Job_ First, this is a one of a kind experience. Many people are interested to own and operate the costumes which can be quite fun when driven properly. It is a great core workout. You are only physically working 3 hours a day with usually 6 - 8 hours on site. The events are mainly outside so we work in the fresh air and not an office. You have plenty of downtime to relax or pursue other activities. Most of our clients are fairs which are some of the nicest and relaxed people we have ever worked with. You will have free admission to the the venue and be able to enjoy it on breaks and after performing. Most of our customers are kids that are excited to see you and what the costume can do. We cater events all over the U.S., and occasionally internationally, so there is plenty of travel. We cover all hotels and travel expenses. This is a very simple job with good pay and low stress.
