Lost our father's military dog tags...

This is a real long shot but here it goes... My older brother was in a hospital in Portland, ME, and realized that he lost his most cherished possession: our father's military dog tags. One of the possible scenarios is that they got lost in his sheets, which then go out to an outfit in Lawrence. I've called this outfit, but nothing turned up there. IF the dog tags went there and were never found, then that means... wastewater? trash? If anyone out in Lawrence sees this and either works at the water treatment plant or knows someone who does... could you be on the lookout? Two tags on the typical chain. I think one was in a plastic cover.
