Description
Skills: • Carpentry, electrical, plumbing, painting and drywall, basic appliance repair. • Seasonal tasks include minor groundskeeping & snow shoveling. • Moves furniture and equipment. • Keeps buildings and grounds free of trash and debris. • Performing weekly inspections of building and lighting; reporting any required repairs or issues in a timely manner. • Identifies projects requiring the services of a higher skilled craftsperson; assists in obtaining quotes and arranging for services of outside vendors as directed. • Ability to prioritize and complete service requests in an efficient and timely manner. • Assists with special projects periodically as directed. • Have knowledge of safety hazards and precautions. Requirements: • Must have reliable transportation & clean, valid driver's license. • This job requires continual physical activity, long periods of standing, and exertion. Must be able to lift 60 pounds. Can easily navigate stairs, ramps, sidewalks, and walk distances carrying a workload. Have good manual dexterity and strong attention to detail • High School/Trade School diploma required; AA degree preferred. • Direct work experience with maintenance and facilities upkeep. • Knowledge of all phases of construction and building maintenance. Minimum of 5 years of work experience. • Must be able to read, write & speak English language. • Proficient in computer use. Must be able to read and respond to email in a professional manner. • Ability to interface with all types of mechanical and construction contractors. • Ability to work with minimum supervision. • Good interpersonal and communication skills. • Ability to understand library’s policies and procedures with a willingness to appreciate different points of view and problem solve in a constructive manner. • Investment in ongoing professional growth and development, learning, and skill-building. Part Time (up to 20-hours per week). $20/hour. This is a labor class civil service position. Available benefits include optional enrollment in the NYS Retirement System. Start date ASAP.
