Football Officiating Class starting July 26 at Shelby High SchoolATTENTION EX-PLAYERS, ATHLETES, FANS: MAKE THE CALL!! Stay involved in the game. New Officials Needed for the 2021 Football Season! YOU ARE WANTED!! and NEEDED! Come off the bench and get onto the field! Become an OHSAA Football Official. It's your call! The 2021 high school football season is just around the corner and new officials are needed for the upcoming gridiron action. Without us, the games don't go on. In conjunction with the Firelands Area Football Officials Association, a beginning football officiating class will be held starting Monday, July 26th at Shelby High School. Classes will then run mainly Thursday evenings at SHS, and select Mondays at Plymouth HS for approx. 6 weeks. Classroom sessions will include both in-person lecture and video study, in addition to on-field instruction, on rules, philosophy, and mechanics (where to stand, signals, where to look). The entry-level class will prepare participants to become licensed OHSAA football officials and get on the field this coming season. All male and female candidates WILL BE ABLE TO OFFICIATE GAMES THIS SEASON! High school students between age 14-18 are also encouraged to enroll! At conclusion of class, newly-licensed officials will be permitted to officiate at the youth, middle school, freshman and JV levels. Officials can earn between $35-$70 per game, depending on the level and can work several games per week.
