Description

An independent concert series under the stars at Lost City River North. Headlining act is Paul DeHaven with opener Barry Osborne. Presented by Do303, Lost City Live is excited to welcome Paul DeHaven with opener Barry Osborne on August 7th. Music begins at 7:30 p.m. and the patio will open one hour prior (at 6:30 p.m.) for attendees only. Paul DeHaven has been a fixture of the thriving Denver music scene for over 10 years, well-respected for his time crafting licks and tunes as a founding member of now-defunct folk darlings Paper Bird, heartland roots rockers Heavy Diamond Ring, and high desert psych virtuosos Eye & the Arrow. When Paul DeHaven started crafting his latest release, Echoes and Overtones, it wasn’t clear what he was doing. “I had a glut of songs, and I was in the middle of writing and rehearsing a full band record, when I realized I had a collection of these more mellow, acoustic guitar-based songs that fit really well together.” So, in the midst of weekly band rehearsals, he spent his days at his home studio plucking out this latest collection of tunes. Singer-songwriter Barry Osborne infuses elements of punk and indie rock into the traditional clawhammer banjo sound. Marquee Magazine writes "With the same whimsical irreverence of John Hartford, Barry takes the old-time clawhammer sound and blends it with his influences of early 1980s college rock." In 2019 he was nominated for a Westword Music Award in the Folk/Bluegrass category, and he currently plays in Denver indie folk quartet Distance Walk. Lost City will offer food and drink to enjoy during the shows including cocktails, wine, beer, and snacks from chef Silvia Hernandez. Parking is free - please park in the overflow lot on the southwest side of the Taxi complex and avoid parking in any spots marked for residents. Lost City is a mission-driven, community oasis with locations at the River North Taxi campus and Capitol Hill. The name Lost City is meant to capture both a global and local perspective on progress. Lost City is dedicated to creating a better Colorado by supporting the needs of marginalized communities and providing a safe space for opportunities and cultural exchange. Lost City is proud to be a founding member of the Denver Metro Emergency Food Network (www.denverdelivered.com), a joint effort started in March 2020 to respond to food insecurity during the COVID-19 crisis. The Taxi location offers specialty coffee, delicious house-made food, catering, and a full bar. The Capitol Hill location is currently serving specialty coffee drinks with plans for a fresh and seasonal food menu in the near future. For more information, visit lostcitydenver.com.
