The 24 Hour Citizen Project is an event where they connect people with community-focused ideas to expertise and financial backers in order to make them happen. This is an event created for citizens to impact their community directly through the pursuit of citizen-led projects. The705’s goal of getting people involved in their community includes support great initiatives like this. We will hear about 2 past projects that were funded from some of the people that made them happen!
Dr. Ryan Cazares is the founder of Scott Eye Care and the Lafayette Community M.I.Brary (musical instrument library). His team won the 24-Hour Citizen Project in 2017, earning $5000 to help start the M.I.Brary in partnership with the Lafayette Public Library. Now beginning its 4th year of existence, the M.I.Brary has had over 350 check-outs of its instruments, which includes guitars, violins, accordions, keyboards, and more!
Rodney Hess is "More Doc Brown than Don Draper” and one of the founders of Krewe de Canailles. This marketing mad man has developed a reputation for success through his innovative approaches to digital marketing and storytelling. Rodney always has an answer for everything and it’s probably because his brain never turns off. You will often find him tapping a pencil or jangling his leg while he dreams up his next big scheme.
